There is good news for the world’s largest messenger WhatsApp users. In the coming time, you will be able to send short video messages. The company has started trial of a new feature that will allow users to record short video messages and send them to others. This will provide another method of communication on the app. According to the news of neowin.net, the new feature will allow users to record and share up to 60 seconds of video with others directly in the chat.

Currently available for selected users

According to the news, the new feature is being rolled out for both Android and iOS users with WhatsApp beta version 2.23.13.4 and version 23.12.0.71. Currently this (Short video messaging feature in WhataApp) is available for selected users. That’s why you may not see this option available now, even if you have the above beta version installed on your phone.

If you want to try this feature, the best way to check if you have it is to tap on the mic icon next to the chat bar. If the icon changes to a video, the feature has been enabled for you. To use it, all you have to do is hold the video icon and it will start a three second timer post which the app will start recording.

Like Voice Notes, WhatsApp offers a lock option so that you don’t have to press and hold the video button to record the message. Once you’re done recording, you can tap the red button at the bottom center of the screen to stop recording. You can playback a video recording before you decide to send it. WhatsApp also provides a delete button at the bottom left corner so that if you don’t like it, you can delete the video and start again. Once you’re satisfied, you can tap Send to share the video with the other person.
